        • 工字型的意義我們都知道，同面積的兩根梁，—是圓的，一是矩形的，而矩形的要比圓的受力大。這是因為在梁的上下邊緣處應力比較大，而越靠近中性軸處應力越小。圓形橫截面在離中性軸較遠的上下邊緣地方的面積較小，而接近中性軸的地方面積較大，這樣就有很大一部分材料沒有充分發揮作用，這在矩形截面中就比較好些。故矩形比圓形的經濟合理，基于這個道理，為做到物盡其用，便常將中性軸附近的材料盡可能移放到離中性軸較遠的地方去。
